In 2016, Windstream announced that J Berkshire was appointed President of Operations for Georgia—Windstream’s largest consumer market. Berkshire oversees the nearly 450 managers and technicians who operate Windstream’s voice and broadband network in the state.
Berkshire has held many different roles throughout his more than 17 years in the communications industry. His background in construction, engineering and technology enables him to bridge the gap between theory and application to meet the growing broadband needs of consumers and businesses in Georgia.
"Every customer matters, and every member of Windstream’s Georgia team is dedicated to getting it right for the people who trust us to provide critical communications services,” Berkshire said. “We know our communities because we live and work there, and we take a great deal of pride in serving our friends and neighbors.”
Prior to his appointment to oversee Georgia, Berkshire served as the Director of Outside Plant for Windstream’s seven-state Southeast Region from 2014 through March 2016.
Berkshire joined Alltel in 2000 and moved to Windstream in 2006 when it was created through the spin-off of Alltel’s landline business. He holds a bachelor's degree from Jacksonville State University.
